Not every novelist can write like a poet. Not every poet is a novelist. Enter Linda Ferguson whose career in poetry has captured prizes and accolades galore. Now she has turned her pen to the novel…and novel it is. There are entire passages which read like descriptive poems and paragraphs which are absolutely lyrical. Her approach to her protagonist’s life is filled with magical realism, a discussion of particle physics and spirituality.

Ferguson’s plot takes her Charleston Irish heritage heroine Anna Grace on a journey to Ireland to discover her family heritage. Anna Grace is in for lots of insight and more than a few coincidences as she visits Galway and the surrounding Irish countryside. She is there over Midsummer Night and experiences romance, which the widow did not anticipate. She connects her life in Charleston to new people in her life in Ireland. She finds roots she was unaware of upon her departure, and in the process, seems to find herself too.
